YSR Kanti Velugu Scheme 2024

The government of Andhra Pradesh has launched the YSR Kanti Velugu Scheme, on 10th of October on the occasion of World Sight Day. This scheme is specially intend to provide free eye check up in the state. There are so many benefits in this scheme and one of them is free eye test, where individuals who have weak eye sight but do not have money to do eye test, the scheme has made this scheme.

Process For Preliminary Screening Under the Scheme

  • As per the sources there are 62497 schools with 7041988 students, and all the students will be screened for the identification of detective vision.
  • The procedure of screening will be done in the schools by the screening team, which will be public health staff and one Asha worker.
  • For the urban areas, the provisional team will include 1 PHS and 1 Asha and, RBSK city staff, and the vehicles will be used for urban areas.
  • The government has also mentioned that total screening per day should be 200 to 250, and the team should be trained for the screening.
  • The government will provide them materials for screening and data sheet for noting screening to the team.
  • When the data collection is complete the data will be given to the respective ANM’s and then the ANM’s will upload the data to PHC.

Implementation of YSR Kanti Velugu

The third phase of the YSR Kanti Velugu Programme takes place in AP. The AP government is implementing the YSR Kanti Velugu in six phases over a period of two and a half years in mission mode. The AP government has decided to implement phase three eye screening for people over 60 after the successful completion of phases one and two of this program.

  • Secondary mass screening and eyeglass prescription

Screening Process under Kanti Velugu Scheme
  • The assessment will be carried out by 500 teams appointed by the relevant authorities of the Andhra Pradesh Government.
  • The assessment will be conducted before July 31, 2020.
  • The following number of beneficiaries will benefit: – During the second phase, 1,34,252 children with visual impairments were identified and 56,767 glasses distributed 77,485 additional cases are under investigation.
  • In the first phase, 66,15,467 children were registered, 4,36,979 children with eye problems.
